The Woodland Hills International Studies Club presented details of a planned summer 2026 trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam at the April 9 meeting. The board had approved the trip at a prior meeting, and club sponsor (high school Spanish teacher) Miss Tanski provided logistics, an itinerary and fundraising guidance to trustees.
"The proposed date is July twelfth of next year through July 23," Miss Tanski told the board. The 12-day itinerary would split time roughly across Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta (Vietnam), Thailand and Cambodia, with four days planned in each country and two days lost to travel.
The sponsor said the quoted program cost from the tour operator Explorica is about $5,100 per student; other vendors quoted similar amounts (EF Tours roughly $5,300). That base price includes student airfare, transfers, lodging, most meals and entrance fees. Additional out-of-pocket items that families would cover include passports, visas (Vietnam and Cambodia), optional travel insurance (about $160), tipping (roughly $120) and personal spending (estimated commonly at about $500).
Miss Tanski said fundraising will be expected: a model in the presentation suggested students target roughly $2,500 by the first quarter of planning and $3,500 by the second quarter, with the remainder to be raised by the end of the fundraising calendar. She said vendors can provide student-specific accounts and that some students have historically used GoFundMe pages connected to the tour operator to collect donations.
On safety and contingencies, the sponsor noted the tour operator provides emergency evacuation plans, options to reschedule or relocate tour stops if a destination becomes unsafe and a prorated cancellation policy; travel insurance is available.
Ending: Miss Tanski said enrollment numbers are still developing and that the club will hold a parent launch meeting and provide more detailed fundraising timelines. The administration noted the district does not provide direct funding for the club trip; fundraising, grants and family contributions are the expected sources.
