Park City’s City Council unanimously approved the vacation of an unused 30‑foot sanitary sewer easement within a portion of Lot 1, Block 1 of the Kansas Coliseum addition, east of I‑135, during Tuesday’s meeting.
Russ Avey, subdivision administrator, told the council the easement covers a strip of land that is no longer needed because the city’s sewer mains run a few hundred feet to the east. He said a private landowner petitioned the city for the vacation and that the Planning Commission recommended approval on March 17 by a 6-0-1 vote.
Councilman Jim Schrader moved to approve the vacation; Councilman Terry Osborne seconded. The council voted 7-0 to adopt the vacation. Avey said the vacation removes an unused encumbrance from the property and that the city will retain sewer service via the nearby mains.
The action implements the Planning Commission recommendation and clears the easement from the property record; staff said the developer/property owner petitioned for the change to allow more flexible use of the parcel.
