Jail roof: The county received bids for a jail roof replacement and accepted the lowest, most responsible bid from Freeport Industrial Roofing Incorporated for $358,900. The county's staff and Lieutenant Jody Ewers checked references and recommended the contractor. The motion to award the contract was seconded by Brian Schneider and approved by voice vote.
Landfill consulting: The committee approved a professional services agreement with Brownsville Environmental Consulting Services for work on Landfill No. 2. The contract amount for the coming year is $34,500, a decrease from the prior year's $48,500 allocation; staff reported actual spending last year was significantly below the original contract. The motion passed on voice vote.
Juvenile detention IGA: The committee received a presentation from Amy Gallonoff of Fulton County Probation on an amendment to the intergovernmental agreement with Winnebago County that increases the per-day juvenile detention charge from $150 to $200. Gallonoff said Boone County placed four juveniles in the detention center for a total of 102 days since Dec. 1 and that Winnebago bills only for days used rather than a guaranteed bed rent. The committee voted to move the IGA amendment to the county board for approval.
