At the start of the Pickens County Board of Commissioners work session the chairman and Mayor Kirk Craftfield read a joint proclamation declaring April 13–19, 2025, National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in Pickens County.
The proclamation text cited that public safety telecommunicators are often the first contact for citizens calling 911, provide lifesaving guidance and reassurance during emergencies, and deserve recognition for their professionalism and service. The chairman and Mayor Craftfield signed and invited local dispatch personnel to stand for a group photograph.
The county proclamation encourages “all citizens to join in expressing their gratitude and appreciation for the dedication and service of our public safety telecommunicators,” language the chairman read aloud while delivering the proclamation. The reading and photo opportunity were presented as a ceremonial recognition; no formal policy or budgetary action was announced during the presentation.
