County board approves lot split and caretaker residence special uses for local properties

LaSalle County approved two land-use special-use petitions during its April 10 meeting.
Petition 25-06 (Joshua and Mallory Martin) requested a special use to split a tract in an A-1 agricultural district into two lots of less than 35 acres (a 13-acre and a 14.865-acre lot) at North 40420 First Road in Mission Township. The Zoning Board of Appeals recommended approval by a 5–1 vote. The county board moved, seconded and approved the petition; the chair called for the ayes and declared the motion carried.
Petition 25-07 (Beckett Outdoors LLC / Daniel Beckett) sought a special use to add a caretaker residence at an existing campground (Ayers Landing Campground) at 3494 East 2080 Ninth Road in Wedron, in an A-1 zoning district. The petitioner intends to construct a residence to support continuing operation of the family business; the ZBA recommended approval 5–1. Discussion noted a zoning-board-member concern that the existing mobile home might be removed in the future, but no binding condition was added. The county board approved the petition by voice vote.
Both actions were read into the record, and county staff indicated the ZBA recommendation and the special-use findings were included in the ordinance language read during the meeting.
