Campton Hills sets special meeting and finance timeline for 2025–26 budget

The Campton Hills Village Board on April 8 directed staff to publish a draft 2025–26 budget after the finance committee meets and tentatively scheduled a special meeting to adopt the budget.

"The Friday at 4, we have the finance committee is meeting to discuss the 2526 budget," the Village Administrator said, and indicated the draft would be published "after this Friday's meeting" so trustees could review it before discussion at a regular meeting and a later special meeting. The administrator said the draft can be published as the base document, modified at the board discussion, and then adopted at a special meeting held between the 22nd and the 29th depending on trustee availability.

Trustees discussed timing constraints tied to the board's need to adopt the budget before the end of the month and agreed that holding the special meeting too late in the window risked not leaving time for a follow-up session if needed. After discussion the board settled on Tuesday the 22nd at 5:30 p.m. as the tentative special meeting time and asked staff to publish the draft, provide opportunity for written comments and set the meeting notice per normal requirements.

Trustees also discussed practical matters such as meeting start time and whether food should be provided for a longer budget session. The board indicated members would provide availability for the special meeting and that the clerk should publish the notice once staff confirms the date and time.
