CRA staff announce personnel change, Indiana Ave RFP recommendation, ADU program timing and other project updates

On projects, staff said the Indiana Avenue RFP selection committee has chosen a recommended developer; the recommendation is with the executive director pending final approval, after which staff will begin negotiating a ground lease. Staff also said they have started drafting a grant agreement following a separate RDA special meeting allocation of $25,000 for the MeetUp underpass project to expedite disbursement.
Other updates included the State Street Mural Project “call for walls,” reinitiated design work on the Japantown project with GSBS and an upcoming Japantown leadership meeting and festival table on April 26, continued planning and stakeholder engagement for Rio Grande District infrastructure (utilities, streets and open spaces), and a ribbon cutting scheduled for the Spark project on North Temple. Staff noted seasonal preparations at Gallivan Center (event season, plaza repairs) and potential conversion of the ice rink area into a pickleball court.
Board members thanked staff for the ADU approval and the new housing dashboard rollout. No formal actions or funding decisions were taken on these individual project update items during the announcements segment; staff indicated some items (for example, the Indiana Ave selection) are pending internal approvals and contract negotiations.
