Planning commission approves consent agenda including three time extensions and Goltz Townhomes preliminary plat

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Planning Commission on April 9, 2025 voted unanimously to approve its consent agenda, which included three time-extension requests, approval of the plan development and preliminary plat for Goltz Townhomes and adoption of meeting minutes for March 12 and March 26.
The consent items approved were time-extension requests for projects at 1330 South 700 West; Riverside plan development at 552 North 1500 West; and Hoyt Place phase 2, approximately 843 West Hoyt Place. The commission also approved the plan development and preliminary plat for Goltz Townhomes at approximately 135 West Goltz Avenue; that item had been opened for public comment and closed before the consent vote.
Planning director (unnamed) told commissioners the three extension requests were on the night’s agenda and warned the commission to expect more such requests as financing has become harder to secure and projects have slowed. "We’ll probably be seeing more of those as we go forward, because financing is hard to get and projects have slowed down quite a bit," the planning director said during the meeting.
A commissioner made a motion to approve the consent agenda and another commissioner seconded. The roll-call vote recorded Commissioner Leverett, Commissioner Berry, Commissioner Christiansen, Commissioner Scheer and the chair voting yes; the motion passed unanimously.
Because the Goltz Townhomes plan development and preliminary plat was included on the consent agenda, the commission did not take separate substantive action on that application beyond the approval recorded in the consent vote. The planning director had indicated at the start of the meeting that applicants are increasingly requesting time extensions for previously approved projects, and commissioners asked staff to flag whether an extension is a first, second or third request when those items return.
The actions on the consent agenda will be processed under the city’s usual review procedures and, where applicable, projects will still be required to obtain any necessary permits and approvals from utilities and building services before construction can begin.
