Chairman Dennis Paulselli told the commission on April 9 that he attended a meeting about a refiled accessible-trails bill and will circulate details to members ahead of the May meeting.
Paulseli said the legislation was refiled this year after the governor appointed a work group to study accessible trails following last year—s action. He said he will provide bill numbers for both the Senate and House and share materials from the campaign—s leader, whose last name is Bandera and who is based in western Massachusetts.
Paulseli said the governor did not take up the bill last year but implemented the ideas behind it by appointing a study work group. He said the campaign wants a standalone law to ensure implementation and that he would distribute documents to commissioners before the May meeting so the commission can consider taking a formal position there.
Commissioners did not take formal action on the bill during the April 9 meeting. Paulselli offered to invite Bandera to dial into the May meeting, and he asked commissioners to provide feedback about that invitation offline.
