The Barre Unified Union School District Board adopted a resolution honoring the district's teachers and staff and invited teachers and staff to a breakfast to be held during Teacher Appreciation Week, with the time and date to be announced.
The board’s motion to adopt the resolution was made by Alice and seconded by Giuliano; members approved the motion by voice vote. The resolution text — read aloud at the meeting — thanks educators for their “time, energy, and expertise” and cites the National PTA’s designation of Teacher Appreciation Week as the reason for the board's recognition.
Board member Emily asked that school nurses also be recognized, noting that National School Nurse Day falls in the same week. “It was pointed out … it’s also National School Nurse Day in that week,” Emily said, and the board discussed drafting either an amendment or a separate resolution to acknowledge nurses. The board agreed that signatures for the resolution could be completed during a break.
The resolution as read stated it was “Adopted this April 2025 by the Barrie Unified Union School District.” The board record will use the district’s official name, Barre Unified Union School District #97. The resolution also includes an invitation to each school’s teachers and staff to attend a breakfast; the date and time were described in the meeting as “to be announced.”
The board approved the resolution by voice vote and moved on to other business.
