Board approves $12,381 mini‑grant for county fire department turnout gear

Chief Kopich (fire chief) applied for the mini-grant; staff said the state awarded a partial award because funds were distributed among many applicants. The grant award totaled $12,381.12 and is intended to purchase personal protective equipment (turnout gear) for firefighters. County staff prepared a resolution authorizing acceptance of the award and requested the board authorize the county administrator to execute the award instrument and accompanying documents so the fire department can receive the funds before the state deadline.
The board approved the resolution by voice vote and authorized the county administrator to sign the grant documents and any required certifications. Staff said the resolution and administrator’s signature satisfy the state’s requirements for awarding and processing the mini-grant.
