City officials and council members closed the meeting by reiterating local mental-health resources and relief channels for residents affected by a recent tragedy.
An unidentified city official said Sedgwick County, Comcare, Mental Health America and the Red Cross are compiling a one-page resource sheet of services and that residents in crisis should call 988. “Again, 988. And you will have someone that can, answer from your local, side,” the speaker said.
Officials also said the Wichita Community Foundation has established a trusted donation site, ICTTogether.org, to collect funds for families affected by the incident. City staff and elected officials said donated funds will go directly to impacted families.
Why it matters: The reminder highlights immediate support options — a national mental-health hotline routed to local responders and a vetted local donation portal — that city officials said are available to community members needing help or wanting to contribute.
Council members and staff also encouraged residents to check forthcoming local materials that will list mental-health resources and local points of contact.
