The Kings County Board of Supervisors recognized the Sierra Pacific High School varsity girls basketball team April 8 after the team won the CIF Central Section Division II championship on March 6, 2025.
Giselle Coit, administrative analyst, introduced the team and praised the athletes for balancing academics and athletics and for demonstrating "determination, sportsmanship and teamwork." Head coach Victor Chabarain Jr. spoke briefly and thanked school and district leaders and the athletic director for support, noting the team built a competitive schedule that helped lead to the championship and that the section final was a 50‑43 win.
County staff and supervisors presented certificates to each player named at the meeting and acknowledged the coaching staff, including co‑coaches and assistants named by staff.
Why it matters: The recognition is ceremonial: supervisors publicly acknowledged a local high school program’s athletic achievement and the school support that contributed to the season.
Ending: County officials invited members of the public and board members to take photos with the team following the presentations.
