Planning Commission approves minutes, continues Castleton master plan and elects officers

The Planning Commission approved routine business, acted to continue a subdivision master plan after the applicant failed to appear, accepted a withdrawal of a separate agenda item and elected officers for the coming year.
On a motion to approve the minutes of the Feb. 3 meeting with a correction (a 5-foot sidewalk referenced on page 3, rather than a 5-inch sidewalk), the commission recorded unanimous approval. Commissioners indicated the page-3 language appeared to be an obvious error and the clerk’s office will update the record.
The commission then took up a master-plan application for the Castleton subdivision at the east end of Inniswood Drive. Planning staff explained the applicant, represented by the Bray Firm, requested master-plan approval to subdivide 5.05 acres into 10 lots, with lot sizes from about 15,000 to 21,751 square feet, a common open-space detention basin and a cluster mailbox area. The applicant did not attend the meeting; staff said the applicant had been emailed the staff report and had not communicated their absence. Commissioners voted to continue the Castleton master plan to next month so the applicant can attend.
The commission was also advised that Item 3 on the agenda had been withdrawn by its applicant. Staff said the applicant intends to pursue a variance from the Board of Zoning Appeals before returning to the commission; staff indicated the earliest the item would return would be June after the Board of Zoning Appeals meets.
Finally, the commission elected officers. Commissioners nominated Paul Kaiser for chair and Jim Lamb for vice chair; roll-call votes recorded approval and both officers were elected.
With no further public comment, the commission adjourned the meeting.
