Committee hears project and service updates; Perisi Construction to begin street work

The Cottage Grove Public Works, Properties and Sustainability Committee received updates from Strand Associates and village staff on development projects and community services.
Strand reported that Westlawn’s last additions are expected to be completed this summer; Quarry Ridge Phase D has installed utilities and will move to road construction in spring; the Amazon facility has started public utilities while the traffic impact analysis remains under review by state and county staff and the village; Hay Day Cottage Grove submitted final documents and plans to begin construction this spring or summer; Coyle South Highlands and Farm Development remain under discussion with developers. Strand said Perisi Construction, the low bidder on the 2025 street and pedestrian improvements, plans to mobilize and begin construction earlier than anticipated, potentially as soon as early next week.
In the director’s report, staff noted ongoing tree-trimming and brush pick-up schedules (the first full week; residents should have brush out by 6 a.m. on that Monday). The village sold 14 rain barrels through online ordering with pickup at the MSB building; additional barrels remain available for purchase on the village website. An e-waste event is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to noon at the old public workshop on Bonney Road. Staff reported the municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) annual report and permit filing was submitted before the March deadline. AECOM completed an initial exterior inspection of the salt shed for WisDOT; no immediate concerns were identified. Staff also said geothermal testing at the police station site is underway to assess potential use.
Committee members asked about resident notification for the imminent street project; staff confirmed a mailer was sent the previous day and that the village would post updates on its website and social media during construction.
