For the water and sewer department, the council approved a transfer of $200,000 from the Buttermilk Road system improvements line and $184,000 from the Ed Love Raw Water Upgrade Phase 1 line to create planning and design funding for lift stations 40 and 41. Miss Standridge said the Buttermilk Road allocation clears that line item entirely after the project encountered delays; the Ed Love funds were described as leftover amounts from a previously awarded contract.
During discussion, a water-and-sewer staff member identified as Ashley said staff found a large water leak during work on a service line inventory in the Buttermilk Road area, which addressed part of the area’s pressure problems and contributed to the decision to pause that project and reassign funds to the lift-station planning effort.
Separately, the council approved closing the Watermelon Road to Riceland Road utility-relocation project and returning $256,000 to ALDOT under its funding contract. The council also approved closing the 69 South utility-relocation project under the TCRIC contract and returning $736,000 to CCRC.
All items were approved by voice vote; the transcript records that the projects will be closed and funds returned to the original grantor agencies under contract terms.
