Board approves $19 million hurricane‑debris budget amendment; expects federal reimbursement

Staff said the debris removal work is largely complete and that reimbursements to date total about $5,400,000. Staff also said the county is managing costs as they are incurred and that most expenses are expected to be reimbursed; they characterized the FEMA reimbursement as 100% for eligible costs.
Commissioner Nicks moved and Commissioner Lively seconded approval of the budget amendment to increase the hurricane debris authorization; the motion carried unanimously.
Staff will continue to submit reimbursement requests to FEMA and record the additional approved authorization in county accounts.
