DIAB discusses timing for annual report; board liaison to route data requests through tracker

The Disability Issues Advisory Board considered how and when to submit its annual report under Board Policy 1700 during the April 8 meeting. The policy requires an annual report to the school board on DIAB—s activities, accessibility compliance issues and recommendations. Board Member Brown told DIAB the policy-review schedule is managed by the board—s policy and governance processes and said she had asked for May but was also open to June.
Several DIAB members recommended preparing a concise 1- to 2-page introductory overview of the board—s mission, membership and subcommittee work for presentation at a full-board meeting; members suggested using May to prepare and presenting in June (the last full-board meeting listed on the calendar is June 26). Members stressed that outstanding data requests should be prioritized because recommendations will be stronger with accurate administrative data.
Board Member Brown said she would follow up with the board chair and vice chair in person at upcoming meetings and work to secure an opportunity for DIAB to present in May or June; subcommittee leads agreed to prepare materials and to forward formal data requests to Board Member Brown so they enter the district tracker.
