The DIAB employment and hiring subcommittee reported on April 8 that it has identified priority recommendation areas and is awaiting data needed to finalize proposals. Subcommittee lead Miss Payne said the group met on March 22 and April 5 and has focused on training for paraprofessionals and dedicated one-on-one aides, benefit structures for those roles, leveraging district policy to increase parent volunteerism, and establishing timelines and reporting requirements for reasonable accommodation requests under Administrative Procedure 4172.
Miss Payne told the board the subcommittee has obtained initial data on reasonable accommodation requests that showed response times and case-status details; the data raised concerns the subcommittee will address in recommendations. The group has scheduled a meeting with Dr. Baldwin, head of human resources, for the Friday after the April 8 meeting and expects to complete its recommendations and present them to DIAB in May.
During discussion DIAB members clarified that formal data requests should be routed through Board Member Brown so they enter the district—s tracking system. Board staff noted that requests submitted via the board tracker typically receive an initial response within 48 hours, and that the board-liaison process is required for committee-originated requests.
