Holiday Ranch homeowners press district to revisit Phase 4 of athletic master plan

Representatives of the Holiday Ranch / Lucky John Drive neighborhood pressed the Park City School District Board of Education to re-examine the Phase 4 component of the district's athletic master plan, which residents say was posted late and moved forward without adequate community input.
Douglas Wilson and other Holiday Ranch homeowners said the Phase 4 proposal includes a 13,200-square-foot accessory building, 28-foot heights and hundreds of lockers proximate to Lucky John Drive, a residential street that backs the high school. "My house went from having open space to not having a big building in front of it," Wilson said. "We're being told that concessions and the accessory dwellings are going to be moved closer to Lucky John, building a 28 foot tall building in front of our homes on the backside — it just, it really doesn't feel right for us as members of the community." Residents said trees and promised landscape buffering were not installed, and that construction activity had already altered views and introduced industrial equipment near homes.
Homeowners asked for reconsideration of Phase 4 site placement and mitigation measures. They suggested moving concessions closer to Kearns Boulevard — a nearby thoroughfare — and protecting Lucky John Drive from additional traffic, lighting and sound impacts. Speakers requested a direct point of contact from the district (the prior contact, Mike Tanner, had left the district leadership team) and asked for timely responses to previously submitted emails.
Board members acknowledged the concerns and said they would follow up with district leadership, the owner's representative and the project architect. The meeting record shows no vote or plan change at this session; residents were directed to a City planning meeting the following day and told district leadership would follow up to schedule a direct conversation.
Douglas Wilson: "We would just really love to have a conversation, either with Mike Tanner, his replacement or someone before any of this moves further, because it is truly...completely changing the landscape of where we are."
