County approves $425,604 design contract for La Jolla Road improvements in Glorieta

Santa Fe County commissioners approved an engineering project assignment April 8 to Wilson & Company to design reconstruction and stormwater improvements on La Jolla Road (between NM 50 and Old Denver Highway) in the Glorieta area.
Growth Management staff said La Jolla Road scored 48 on the county pavement assessment and has constrained shoulders and steep grades that worsen stormwater runoff and pavement deterioration. The approved project assignment (Project Assignment No. 1 under On-Call Agreement 2025-0101-MCMO) covers a preliminary engineering study and development of construction-ready design plans. The contract value is $425,604.40 exclusive of gross receipts tax.
Commissioner Adam F. Johnson, whose district includes the project area, made the motion to approve the project assignment and to delegate signing authority to the county manager; Commissioner Lisa Kokari Stone seconded. Commissioners asked that the design team include outreach to adjacent property owners during planning.
Why it matters: The La Jolla Road segment has a low pavement condition score and stormwater problems; the study and design work are intended to produce plans for a reconstruction project that would address roadway and drainage deficiencies.
