"This was for the Espanola Public School. In Santa Fe County, we had a total of 3,117 ballots sent, and only 428 ballots were returned. That was 7.75% turnout," Rosangela Ortiz said. Commissioners asked follow-up questions about the jurisdictional split; Ortiz explained the majority of the school district lies in Rio Arriba County where about 17,000 ballots were sent and slightly over 2,000 were returned.
The canvass report for the Espanola Public School special election was approved by motion (Commissioner Justin Green moved; Commissioner Lisa Kokari Stone seconded) and the commission signed the certificate of canvas.
