Orange Village Council approved engaging an outside commercial plan reviewer for village commercial project reviews and identified the contractor who will perform the work.
Council members said the village has had difficulty filling a plans-examiner role for commercial plan review and that residential plan review is handled internally by Ron Kluchin. The person identified to perform the commercial reviews is April Sverka of Sixmo Architecture. A staff member said: "The actual person, the actual architect that will be doing the work is, April Sverka, who works for Sixmo Architecture, and she will be the administrator, and plan reviewer for Orange Village."
Council asked about potential conflicts of interest with a reviewer who works at an architecture firm. Staff responded that a conflict would arise only if Sixmo Architecture was the project architect for a specific submission; otherwise the arrangement was acceptable. The council then voted by roll call to approve the engagement: Madden — Yes; Foster — Yes; Bilsky/Belski — Yes; Ulmer — Yes; Vincent — Yes; Perry — Yes; Silver — Yes.
The meeting record did not include contract length, hourly rates, or a formal contract number; council directed staff to proceed with the engagement and noted the arrangement applies only to commercial plan review.
