Las Vegas Civil Service Trustees approve minutes and certify multiple eligible lists

The Las Vegas Board of Civil Service Trustees on April 9 approved the minutes from its March 26 meeting and took a series of routine personnel actions, including certifying and extending eligible lists for multiple city job classifications.

Acting Chair Ponicello convened the meeting and the city clerk confirmed compliance with the open meeting law. City Clerk Lou Anne D. Holmes said, “Yes, we are, acting chair.” The board reported a quorum and moved through the agenda with no public comments recorded.

The board approved the final minutes of the March 26, 2025, regular meeting on a motion by Member Hatch. The trustees then certified eligible lists for several open recruitments, including maintenance mechanic, municipal court martial lateral, recreation leader, sanitation billing inspector, and traffic systems technician trainee. Member Stamper moved to approve those certifications as read.

The board also voted to extend eligible lists for chief of fire investigations, bomb squad (promotional), code enforcement officer, communications quality improvement coordinator (promotional), court services supervisor (promotional), fire communications supervisor (promotional), fleet services worker, plant operator, and youth development assistant; Member Hess moved to approve the extensions. Trustees additionally certified classifications and specifications for firefighter, paramedic trainee, and senior right-of-way agent on a motion by Member Stamper.

There was no substantive public comment during the citizens’ participation portion and no discussion noted beyond the formal motions and voice votes. The meeting adjourned after the board completed the listed agenda items.

The actions keep the city's recruitment and promotion processes moving by preserving eligible lists and clarifying job specifications; no new policies, budgets, or contested decisions were taken at this session.
