Board Chair Sal Mangano opened the meeting and read the board’s hearing procedures, including that applicants must post a notice sign and that the town uses the Townscape software to check for short-term rental violations. “The sign was not properly filled out nor was it up to the height of the town,” Mangano said when explaining why the hearing for 401 Holmes Avenue was being adjourned.
The most immediate outcomes included approvals for several applications: the board approved a rental permit for 1558 Ninth Street in West Babylon (applicant Diane Mitos), a single-family rental at 11 Devon Lane in Wheatley Heights (representative for the owner: Andrea Robinson Agaro), an LLC-owned property at 550 Oak Street in Copiague (represented by an attorney from the Law Offices of Susan Pearsat), 25 Canyon/Kenyan Avenue in West Babylon (applicant Aaron Ekdovich) and a renewal for 94 South 30 Sixth Street in Wyandanch (applicant Thomas London). Motions to approve were made and seconded on the record and carried by voice vote in each case.
The board also set compliance deadlines and inspection requirements for properties where inspectors or board members identified maintenance issues.
