Village DEI strategist Crystal Johnson was not present for the start of the meeting but was represented by village administrator Matt Schenke, who described a village effort to update mission, vision and values, a flag policy, gender‑neutral restrooms in village facilities and DEI input into recruitment for the village police chief.
Board members and staff noted collaboration with the village and utility partners on the Sigel Cove solar project; district staff said the project has passed through the village Planning Commission and staff expect ground‑breaking in the spring. The board discussed the possibility of future field trips to the site once construction is complete.
The joint meeting also covered local Highway 51 construction and routine collaboration on crosswalks and traffic safety. Board members said the quarterly joint meeting format will continue and the next joint session is scheduled for May 13.
