The township received a remediation quote from a mitigation contractor (Mr. Barrett) of approximately $28,000 to remove damaged walls, baseboards and flooring, dry and dehumidify affected spaces, and address mold. A separate foundation and exterior drainage inspection and initial work quote from Teasdale (Mr. Brooks) was about $6,700 to access and patch areas outside the foundation and to investigate water entry points.
Chief Chiavali said mitigation will start with removal of wet materials and drying; contractors warned that additional hidden damage or mold could increase the total cost once work begins. Staff recommended reporting the loss to the township's insurer; trustees were told the deductible is $5,000.
The board discussed timing and the need for prompt action to limit further damage. Staff were asked to proceed quickly with mitigation and to coordinate claims reporting; no formal contract award or motion was recorded at the meeting but trustees signaled urgency.
