Ennett said the bill addresses overlapping boundaries of fire protection districts and authorizes the Department of Agriculture to recommend adjustments to ensure clear jurisdictional lines and reduce duplicated services.
Fogelman told the committee counties sometimes get requests from fire districts to address "no man's land" areas that fall between municipal boundaries or outside assigned coverage. The bill, he said, would create a process and authority to ensure those areas receive proper fire protection assignments.
No members of the public signed up to testify. The committee adopted the motion to pass; the chair announced the bill passed out of committee.
