Commission approves 'Strong Future' career training center to complete Westside campus

LAS VEGAS — The Planning Commission unanimously approved a site development plan for the Strong Future Career Connection Center, a 4,194-square-foot trade-school project sited near the Historic Westside Education and Training Center.
City public works staff and project managers said the center is intended to complement existing workforce training in the area, including a nearby CSN (College of Southern Nevada) campus and a larger Westside Education and Training Center under construction. Rosa Cortez and Sam Dolman presented the site plan, elevations and a proposed curriculum linkage with CSN and community partners. Speakers representing CSN, local churches and neighborhood business owners spoke in favor at the public hearing, citing job-training needs and the potential to connect residents to careers.
Commissioners praised the project as an important workforce investment in Ward 5 and approved the site plan review. The approval was final action at the Planning Commission; it may be appealed to the City Clerk within 10 days.
