Deputy Chief Clark presented a recommendation to approve a one-year contract and license agreement with the Association for Individual Development (AID) to continue placing a full-time social worker housed in the police department and a liaison serving police and fire. Clark said this would be the city's 11th consecutive year with the AID arrangement.
Clark provided 2024 statistics: AID assisted 303 individuals in 2024, 290 of whom were Saint Charles residents; total service hours were 1,499 compared with 1,351 the prior year. The contract also includes office space and computer equipment at the police department.
Clark said funding for the program has historically been provided by a 708 Board grant and that Acting Chief Radjewski planned to present the funding request to the 708 Board on the following Wednesday. The committee approved the resolution by roll call. The motion was made by Vanguard and seconded by Dem; the clerk read a roll-call record in which all named members voted yes (Petrone, Rubble, Besnard, Foltz, Longard, Munoz, Bencioni).
