Planning board recommends approval to rezone 5.38 acres for family subdivision on Silver Hill Church Road
Summary
Haralson County planning staff said the application to rezone 5.38 acres from AR‑1 to AR‑2 is a corrective action to reflect a previously recorded plat and allow three lots for the applicant's children; the board recommended approval with the standard plat recording condition.

On April 8, 2025 the Haralson County Planning Board recommended that the Board of Commissioners approve a rezoning of 5.38 acres (part of a 41.1‑acre tract) at 1350 Silver Hill Church Road (Map 338, Parcel 13) from AR‑1 to AR‑2 to permit a three‑lot subdivision.
Chelsea, Development Services planner, explained the property owner bought the larger tract and now wishes to create three lots totaling about 5.38 acres to provide parcels for children. Staff noted other AR‑2 parcels already exist nearby along Silver Hill Church Road and Clio Shawnee Road, and confirmed a condition that Development Services must sign and the applicant must record the plat before the rezoning becomes effective.
Applicant Julie Jackson told the board the family had already recorded a plat in error before staff advised that the zoning needed to be corrected; the rezoning is intended to formalize and clean up the recorded documents. No public opposition was raised. The planning board voted to recommend approval; the matter moves to the Haralson County Board of Commissioners for final action in May.
