County staff combined the Round Valley project with two other projects in Woodruff and Randolph in a single solicitation. Three bids were opened; Consolidated Paving submitted the lowest responsible bid, followed by Anderson Asphalt and Staker Parsons. Commissioners said the bids came in below engineering estimates and were pleased with the results.
The commission and public works staff discussed a project alternate that increases the quantity or grade of oil in a specific segment showing cracking and shoulder loss. Staff said the alternate adds roughly $12,000 to the base price to address areas that need a heavier application.
A motion to approve the low bid, including the alternate, passed unanimously. Public works staff will execute contract paperwork and proceed with scheduling so the projects can move forward this summer. The contract award includes standard provisions and an option the commission may revisit if performance or qualifications issues arise with the contractor.
