Town of Babylon board approves several resolutions, adjourns nuisance hearing to April 23

The Town of Babylon Town Board met Wednesday, April 9, 2025, and approved three resolutions while adjourning a public-nuisance hearing for 1531 Straight Path in Wyandanch to April 23 at 3 p.m., Supervisor Schaeffer said.

The board voted on a consensus resolution agenda and then approved Resolution 290 (4 yes, 1 abstention), Resolution 291 (4 yes, 1 abstention) and Resolution 292 (approved; roll call not announced). The board also again tabled Resolution 243 until the April 23 meeting.

The meeting opened with two public hearings. The first hearing, on amending Chapter 3, Article 2, Section 3-4 of the Town of Babylon Uniform Code of Traffic Ordinances, was closed after no public comment. The second hearing, to designate the premises known as 1531 Straight Path, Wyandanch (Suffolk County tax map number as announced at the meeting), as a public nuisance and to authorize boarding and litigation, was adjourned to April 23 at 3 p.m. "This hearing is adjourned to April 23 at 3PM," Supervisor Schaeffer said during the meeting.

During the open portion the board accepted a packet of information submitted by Anthony Mignon for the record and heard public comments from residents on separate matters (see related articles on a proposed Oak Island Beach Association community dock and a property-documentation request from a resident of East Farmingdale).

Votes at a glance: Resolution 290 — approved (4 yes, 1 abstention; Supervisor Schaeffer abstained); Resolution 291 — approved (4 yes, 1 abstention; Councilman Mineta abstained); Resolution 292 — approved (vote called, roll not read); Resolution 243 — tabled until April 23.

The board adjourned the meeting following the open portion.
