Soil and Water Conservation District lists spring events and technical assistance after 71 visits since January

Eric, representing the Medina County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), reported the office provided 71 technical events since January, including drainage site visits, pond permitting assistance, stream bank erosion visits and nutrient management planning for 526 acres.

Eric said the H2Ohio program produced voluntary nutrient-management plans for 41 participants covering 526 acres and that incentive payments for producers are scheduled at the end of the month. The SWCD also listed several recent and upcoming education and outreach events: a backyard-conservation presentation for the Medina Senior Center, a township zoning inspectors training on riparian setback verification, presentations to girl scout and 4‑H groups, a composting demonstration at the Medina Garden Show, and a stormwater and land development workshop on April 3 conducted with OSU Extension, the county engineer, and the EPA.

Upcoming activities include an Earth Day presence April 20 at Buffalo Creek Retreat, an invasive‑species buyback program, seedling-sale distribution at Geig's Orchard, a spring fish sale pickup May 9, native plant sale pickups May 17–18, a four‑class stewardship certification program (class dates May 28–June 25), a May 20 rain-barrel workshop (registration required; $60 fee) and a volunteer drain‑stenciling program to mark storm drains with “No dumping — drains to creek.” The SWCD noted its April board meeting is April 16 at 1:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Commissioners offered brief thanks and there were no follow-up motions tied to the update.
