The Will County Land Use and Development Committee approved a minor subdivision plat correction April 3 to regularize an illegally created lot so the current owner can obtain a building permit. Brian (staff) told the committee the propertyhad been illegally divided by a prior owner and that staff worked with the current owner to prepare and secure required signatures so the corrected plat could be recorded.
Why it matters: Recording the corrected plat removes a legal obstacle that prevented the owner from obtaining a building permit; the owner reported staff assistance was instrumental and expected to start site work quickly.
Details: The parcel is adjacent to the City of Lockport and will connect to city sewer and water. The committee recommended approval; staff said the application fee for a one-acre-or-less correction was $675 and that the process completed in approximately one month. The owner thanked staff for expedited assistance.
Next steps: With committee approval the owner will record the corrected plat at the county recorderoffice and proceed with building-permit processing.
