Staff proposed to apply $1,100,001.69 from the county’s 2021 dirt‑road/TSPLOST allocation toward the project and said roughly $669,000 would remain for other dirt‑road improvements in the TSPLOST program after that commitment.
Engineering staff said plans and engineering were complete and that the project would be publicly bid under normal procurement rules. Commissioners asked questions about right‑of‑way, grading, utility coordination and how the project fits in the county’s connectivity and collector road network; staff noted the improvement would connect Highway 362 and Highway 16 and provide a needed north‑south connector.
No formal vote was recorded at the workshop; staff asked the board to approve the project designation so staff could advertise for construction bids and proceed under the county’s procurement policy.
