Glendora recognizes Foothill Christian students, proclaims Earth Day, Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and National Library Week

The council also issued proclamations. Council Member Elias presented a proclamation designating April 22, 2025, as Recycling and Organics Separation Day in honor of Earth Day and recognized Athens Services for its partnership. Danae Amaya, director of government affairs for Athens Services, described community outreach activities during Earth Month, including a compost and mulch giveaway that reached 330 residents and a materials recovery facility scheduled to open in the summer of 2025 in the San Gabriel Valley.
Council Member Davis presented a proclamation declaring National Public Safety Telecommunications Week for April 2025. The proclamation noted Glendora’s 911 communications numbers for 2024 — 36,640 calls for service, including 14,935 emergency 911 calls, and 88,969 total phone rings. Dispatcher Corey Innes accepted the recognition on behalf of the communications center.
Council Member Alawas read a proclamation for National Library Week, recognizing the Glendora Public Library and inviting residents to participate in library programs and volunteer activities.
The proclamations and recognitions were presented from the dais and accompanied by brief remarks and photo opportunities; they were not recorded as contested actions requiring separate roll-call votes. The council thanked residents and partner organizations for their contributions to city programs and events.
