Wissahickon education foundation outlines three grants, seeks new board members

The Wissahickon Educational Opportunities Foundation on April 7 told the Wissahickon School District Board of School Directors it has funded three recent projects and is recruiting new board members from the community.
The foundation’s president, Allison (Wissahickon Educational Opportunities Foundation), introduced student representatives Hannah Young, a senior, and Riley Taylor, a junior, and said the foundation is in a “rebuilding year” with four new board members and an executive transition underway.
WEOFF said it has agreed to fund adaptive equipment for PACE students (a grant submitted by the Stony Creek physical education department), purchase a new cargo trailer for the Wissahickon High School marching band to replace a 24-year-old trailer, and finance a mural project in the Wissahickon High School library in collaboration with the art department and area high school students. Allison said principals at a recent leadership council meeting “were very supportive of WEOFF and agreed to help spread the word that we are looking to add new board members from the community, including teachers and staff.”
Board members thanked the foundation for recent gifts to district athletic turf fields and bleacher work. Superintendent Jim also noted appreciation for the foundation’s support.
WEOFF announced a spring staff-tributes program that will deliver personalized thank-you messages to teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week 2025; the foundation set a submission deadline of April 25, 2025. The foundation also said it is not holding its annual trivia night this year and plans new events in the fall of 2025.
