Commission approves multiple plats, including Meridiana detention reserve final plat with three conditions

The Planning Development Zoning Commission unanimously approved the consent agenda and a final plat for a detention reserve within the Meridiana development at its February meeting.

On the consent agenda the commission approved (1) a six-month extension for the preliminary plat for Valencia Section 12; (2) Meridian Section 13B preliminary plat; (3) final plat for Meridian Section 26B; (4) final plat for Meridian Section 31B; and (5) final plat for Detention Reserve W for Meridiana; the consent agenda also included approval of meeting minutes. The chair called for a motion, and the consent agenda carried 7-0.

Separately, staff presented a final plat for a detention facility within Meridiana described as a subdivision of about 43 acres into blocks and reserves that includes a portion of the abandoned Bissell Road. Staff said the site is part of Brazoria County Utility District No. 507 and referenced related local drainage and platting issues. City staff recommended approval of the plat with three conditions: (1) provide a letter of no objection from GCWA (the local water authority), (2) provide an approved construction plan for Cruiser/Bride Road, and (3) revise labeling to accurately identify the floodplain zone. A commissioner moved to approve the plat with the three staff conditions; the motion carried unanimously, 7-0.

Staff told the commission the proposed plat generally conforms to the approved preliminary plat but noted required revisions and outstanding coordination with utility and drainage authorities before final construction.
