Domelen, who identified his residence on Powell Lane, thanked the EDC for partnering with the city on the complex and urged collaboration at an upcoming city council strategy session focused on the property. “This payment … is gonna go to help fund that water reclamation facility,” Domelen said, calling that facility “a key component to all commercial growth happening in the city.”
Board members present for the vote were Chris Durrett, Donald Atkinson, Damon Collins, Jason Black, Derek Dalmalin and Robina Spruill; Martina McNichols was absent. A motion to approve the agenda item was made, seconded, and the chair called the question; the clerk recorded the motion as passing 6‑0.
The board did not discuss additional restrictions or conditions tied to the transfer at the meeting. Staff indicated the payment is part of a previously approved agreement and that the $1,000,000 would be transferred from EDC funds to the city’s account to fund project components including a water reclamation facility.
