Regional transportation group pitches membership to Manville council

The mayor invited Amy to highlight member benefits. Amy said membership offers agency coordination, advocacy and education, business development and transportation management services. She noted a recently launched engineering-recruitment effort that involves Dickinson and Pasadena ISD CTE programs and a student “tiny homes” contest whose finalists will appear at a BayTran fundraiser on April 3.
Council members said they appreciated the overview and asked for specifics about membership fees and categories. Amy said Manville would qualify in the “5,000-plus population” bracket; the annual membership fee for that category is $2,500, with a sustaining-partner option at $3,500 that includes table sponsorship and recognition at BayTran’s annual State of the Counties event. The packet Amy left with city staff contains the membership tiers and supporting materials.
Council members discussed timing for a membership decision and noted the city’s mid‑year budget adjustments next month as a logical time to consider adding the fee. No formal action was taken; council directed staff to retain the BayTran materials and to include the membership question in upcoming budget discussions.
