Everman Council tables proposed animal-control ordinance and fee schedule pending Forest Hill review

Everman City Council on Jan. 28 voted to table two draft ordinances that would replace the city’s Chapter 3 animal-control regulations and add a municipal animal-services fee schedule. Staff recommended tabling both items until neighboring Forest Hill reviews the same language.
Staff explained the recommendation was procedural: Forest Hill City Council is scheduled to consider the ordinances next week, and if Forest Hill amends the text, Everman would otherwise have to return to council to adopt a matching amendment. "The reason why we're recommending we table it till the next meeting is because the Forest Hills City Council is equally considering these ordinances as drafted," a staff member said, urging that joint consideration avoid multiple amendments.
Councilmember motioned to table Ordinance No. 826 and Ordinance No. 827; both motions were seconded and the roll call recorded Aye votes from Place 1, Place 2, Place 3, Place 4, Place 5 and the Mayor. The motions carried. The staff invited councilmembers to discuss proposed changes before Forest Hill meets if they preferred, but the formal action was to table both ordinances to the next meeting.
