Council hires Allison O'Connor as assistant elections clerk; appoints two residents to town committees

The Richmond Town Council voted to hire Allison O'Connor as a full-time assistant elections clerk in the Town Clerk’s office and approved two volunteer appointments to local committees.

Erin (town staff) said the position was advertised for about three weeks; six interviews were conducted and Allison O'Connor was the only applicant with elections experience. Erin said O'Connor “served three election cycles for the Town of Richmond as a head supervisor” and had prior relevant experience with state police office work. Mister Glaston moved to hire Allison O'Connor “as a full time assistant elections clerk in the town clerk's office,” with the advertised rate. The motion received a second and passed on roll call. Councilors recording “yes” during the roll call included Dennison Moore, O'Shaughness, Reynolds and Wilcox.

The council next appointed Christine Donahue to the dog park committee for a term expiring Jan. 31, 2027. Donahue joined the meeting remotely, introduced herself and said she was “excited to be here.” The motion to appoint passed on roll call.

The council also appointed Jean (Jeannie) Nash to the Recreation Commission for a term expiring Jan. 31, 2026. Nash described extensive volunteer coaching experience, running leagues and camps, and said she had “a lot to offer.” Several councilors praised her background; one speaker identified as a former Recreation Commission chair said Nash would expand the commission’s portfolio. The appointment passed on roll call.

Why it matters: The assistant elections clerk is a staffed, paid municipal position that supports election administration; the volunteer appointments fill advisory roles for town recreation and dog-park oversight.

The meeting record shows all three motions passed; appointees and the new hire were released from continuing meeting attendance as appropriate.
