Business Administrator Scott McMillan presented the district’s updated 10-year capital plan and a principal-request list of projects the district recommends funding next summer. McMillan said the principal-request recommendations currently total about $380,000, leaving a small cushion while bids are finalized.
McMillan said Mountain Green Elementary has a cellular-signal coverage gap; the district is investigating a cell-phone booster or antenna and funding sources, possibly through a safety grant. He also reported the Morgan Middle School gym replacement project had a total project budget of $5.8 million, of which $3.8 million was funded by a legislative grant. Bids came in below the budget. R and O Construction was the low bidder, with other bidders listed in order; the district said contract work remains and a final contract has not been signed.
McMillan said the administration is also working with local water districts to connect school facilities to a pressurized system to remove the need for early-morning pump priming. The board received the capital plan as informational and staff indicated they will proceed to finalize contracts and procurements as allowed.
