District student services director reviews Title programs and RISE alternative pathway; 10 diplomas awarded through RISE this year

Destiny Field, the district’s student services director, summarized the scope of her office and recent work on bullying and discrimination reporting, school-based mental health, English-learner services and the McKinney-Vento program for homeless students. Field said the district has made the harassment/ discrimination reporting process accessible online in two clicks and has updated policies and staff training in coordination with legal counsel.
Field described RISE (Reaching Independence through Support and Empowerment), the district’s alternative-education branch of Morgan High School, which focuses on credit recovery and pathways to graduation. "This year, I've actually already had 10 students earn diplomas through the RISE program," Field said. She said RISE aims to get students back on track to graduate with their cohort when possible and offers alternate pathways when not.
Field also said she leads partnerships with local districts and state support teams to shape the district’s mental-health offerings, and that she meets monthly with school counselors to coordinate services and guidance.
