Board elects officers, approves dress code and budget items; consent agenda adopted

Business administrator Scott McMillan, who administered oaths and cast voice ballots during the officer elections, said, “Seeing only 1 nomination I cast a ballot unanimous in favor of Gayleen Adams as president.” McMillan performed a similar unanimous ballot for the election of Kelly Preece as vice president.
On the consent agenda, the board chair read the items and then moved to adopt them. The motion passed on a voice vote. The board later moved and seconded approval of the district meeting schedule and assignments for 2025; that motion also passed on a voice vote. The board discussed and then approved a district dress code policy with building-level enforcement discretion and an effective date at the beginning of the next school year. Board members emphasized that building principals will retain authority to enforce details and that some elements are bound by statute, such as prohibitions on hate speech and violence-related symbols.
The homeschool affidavits brought no substantive discussion and were approved by unanimous voice vote.
