Commission approves revised meeting schedule, plans May 13 final review and red-line vote

The Sunbury City Charter Commission approved a revised work plan on April 8 that sets May 13 as the commission's final review and the night when members will move to approve and transmit red-line revisions to City Council. Rebecca, staff member, told commissioners the change gives City Council time to review the commission's recommendations and fit the charter into council's regular meeting schedule so the document can proceed to the Board of Elections on schedule.

Commission members discussed scheduling cadence and confirmed the commission will meet on a second-and-fourth-Tuesday rhythm in most months; Rebecca said the revised calendar finishes work before Memorial Day and allows council “more time to digest what recommendations have been made.” Joey moved to approve the revised schedule; Nancy seconded. The motion passed on a 6-0 roll call.

Rebecca said the May 13 agenda will include a final review and a motion to approve and forward the red-line charter revisions; if the commission completes the work that night, council could receive the materials at its second May meeting and begin its regular readings and processes. Staff will publish the updated schedule with the next meeting materials.
