Parks staff told the board the specific model, size and specifications they require are not available through existing state or consortium competitive bids. Because the needed truck specifications are not on a cooperative contract, staff asked the board to authorize a competitive bid process and to recommend to city council that the city approve bidding for a truck not to exceed $185,000.
The board first voted to add the bucket-truck proposal to the meeting agenda and then approved the recommendation to bid the vehicle with the stated budget cap. Staff said the recommendation will be forwarded to city council for final authorization to contract once bids are received and evaluated.
