Facilities update: roofing, elevators and new wrecker truck; projects largely under budget

District facilities staff presented a year‑to‑date facilities report highlighting completed roof replacements, elevator modernizations, playground updates, and a renewed district track project, and said most projects have come in under budget.
Facilities presenter Miss Young reviewed a list of completed and in‑progress projects including vestibules, intercom upgrades, a new elevator at Moorhead (and near completion at Rockingham County High School), playground replacements, parking‑lot lighting and resurfacing, and the Dalton McMichael track project (quoted at $685,000). She said some projects were bid and completed under budget with savings as high as $1.4 million on certain roofing scopes; one small project exceeded budget by $6,853.
Miss Young also described a long‑pending purchase for transportation: a state‑assisted wrecker body that would normally total roughly $350,000–$375,000 but was obtained for $125,000 through the state procurement arrangement. The transportation director and county officials coordinated the purchase; staff said the vehicle requires a special license to operate.
Board members praised facilities staff for the work and for managing costs; staff said they will continue to coordinate with the county and financing partners on debt‑funded projects and PayGo projects for FY‑26.
