St. Louis Park announces yard-waste pickup, long Minnetonka Boulevard closure and upcoming visioning engagement

City staff and council members used the meeting’s communications segment to announce several operational and engagement items for residents: yard-waste collection has started; Minnetonka Boulevard between Englewood Avenue and Highway 100 is closed for a Hennepin County reconstruction project and is expected to remain closed through November; a citywide 10‑year visioning process is kicking off with resident training sessions in early May; and Hennepin County will host an informational open house on the Minnetonka Boulevard reconstruction at Lenox Community Center.

City staff asked residents to check the Hennepin County project webpage for detour information related to the Minnetonka Boulevard closure. The staff announcement said the closure is anticipated to continue “all season through November,” and encouraged residents planning to visit City Hall to watch for detours. City staff also described the 10‑year visioning process and said training sessions in early May will prepare residents to host conversations with their networks about the city’s visioning work.

A council member reminded residents that Hennepin County will hold a second informational open house on the Minnetonka Boulevard reconstruction the following evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lenox Community Center.

Other brief announcements included a councilmember’s public congratulations to Paige Beckers on a national championship and likely high WNBA draft position, and a notice that Union Flats (Ward 2) is holding a grand opening the next day; a council member indicated they would attend on behalf of the city.
